"The idea of seeing a rock band is being in a dark place"
The frontman of Linkin Park Chester Bennington has stated that outdoor festivals are ruining the live concerts.
Speaking with NME, Bennington said that he prefers to play shows in places closed own band instead of large outdoor venues.
"Once the album comes out we can incorporate more of the new material at live shows, and that was also something that inspired us, we wanted to do something that was fun to play live, so not only is going to be fun to listen to. For us when we add all these mid tempo songs that are as simple or Iridescent Numb, are very good but we are known for our high-energy shows, and when we introduce these songs to the set ... the energy is not high.So we challenge you with that, even when we started doing Living Things, we wanted to make songs that were fun to incorporate them into the set, and we believe that a track from the new album fit very well, so the more songs we can add better, and I think will give that element of excitement and energy and keep the active groups, so that's why we want to incorporate those songs.
I prefer to play in, the rock should not be touched with the sun hitting you in the face, you know, I can do it, but you do it reluctantly because they force us to do so. I think the outdoor festivals kill the live experience, the idea of seeing a rock band is to be in the dark with the lights on stage to be part of the show. When you're sitting in the grass with the sun shining, the lights give a shit. I mean you're just going to stand touching, so inside: dark, controlled environment, lights, loud music, always better "!
Linkin Park
