Meteora Tour Revisited: 23.01.2014 Montreal, QC

The third show in our "Meteora Tour Revisited" series is the Montreal, Canada show from January 2004. This was the band's first show in Canada since July 2003, when they also played Montreal on Summer Sanitarium with Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne and Deftones. You may have noticed from the past few recordings that (or know already) that the band pulled up fans at almost every show to play 'Faint' on guitar. This happened in Montreal, but the fan couldn't play it. That was a semi-popular thing....for fans to volunteer who actually couldn't play it, so the band said "screw it" every now and then after a failed attempt. In Montreal, Sal (the longtime LP fan that we're all familiar with) was in the front row and yelled to Chester that he wanted to sing 'Faint' with him after the first failed fan-on-guitar attempt and Chester obliged! You're able to hear him pretty well in this recording. If you go back to Uniondale 2002 (a show we'll post up for download in the future), you can hear Sal on 'My Own Summer' (Deftones cover). Chester shouts out to him at plenty of other shows as well, including their Madison Square Garden show in 2008. Not bad! This is one of the best audio recordings of the tour, right up there with Cleveland, our previous download.

Here is an interview from MusiquePlus with Mike, Phoenix and Joe from the day of the show. They mention that it's the first headlining show for the band in Montreal among other things and they recaps the Summer Sanitarium tour. It's one of the better interviews from the time period and is worth a watch. Interestingly enough, this is another time that the band has mentioned the semi-famous (unreleased) Meteora remixes that never have surfaced. A few funny fan questions are included too, like what the band did with their first royalty check or who their celebrity crush is (Joe says Queen Latifah, HA!)...
